Other aka Troy Lovegates aka Derek Shamus Mehaffey's artwork can be seen in train yards, city walls, and fine art galleries across the world. From his native home Canada, all over North and South America, to Europe and beyond, if you look hard enough you may stumble across a shared moment in time. Derek adopted the moniker Other some 20 years ago, a legend of sorts, he is known for his intricate oil stick paintings that grace rolling freight trains across North America. His fine art takes various forms as he works with different mediums, including lino and screen print, aerosol, oil, and acrylic. Derek's hobo nature and impulse to see the world always keeps him on the move, for the time being Other resides and works in Brooklyn and continues to blur the lines between fine contemporary art and graffiti.
